Public transport in Barcelona
Barcelona’s public transport system is efficient, easy to use, and perfect for exploring the city. Here’s what you need to know:
Metro
Fast and easy, with eight color-coded lines. Runs from 5 am to midnight, with extended hours on weekends.
Tram
Great for coastal and newer areas, with the same tickets as metro and bus.
Bus
Covers the city well, especially where the metro doesn’t go. Regular hours are 5:30 am to 10:30 pm, plus night buses.
Ferrocarriles (FGC)
Connects central Barcelona to nearby neighborhoods and towns, including Tibidabo. Uses the same tickets as the metro and tram.

Barcelona boasts an extensive and efficient public transportation system, including buses, metros, and trams. You can purchase tickets directly at the station, or buy cards online to be redeemed at the station. TMB has many fare options dependent on your individual needs.
