Parking & mobility

In this section, you’ll find tips on parking and getting around Madrid by car or bike. We’ll share the best parking spots, key city rules, and other useful info to help make your travels around town easy and hassle-free.

Car driving in Madrid

If you’re bringing your car or scooter to Madrid, parking in residential areas can be tricky. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Use our public parking map to find nearby spots and enjoy the city stress-free. Here are some of our tips :

Parking zones

Madrid’s streets are divided into color-coded zones—blue zones (Zona Azul) for short-term paid parking and green zones (Zona Verde) for residents. Always check the signs for restrictions!

Time limits

Paid parking zones often have strict time limits, so make sure to check the meter or signs to avoid fines.

Payment methods

Parking meters typically accept cash, cards, or mobile apps like ElParking or Telpark for added convenience.

Driving in Madrid

Madrid Central is a low-emission zone covering much of the city center, designed to reduce pollution by limiting traffic access. Only residents, low-emission vehicles, and essential services are allowed to enter freely. The area is well-connected by public transport, and alternatives like BiciMAD bike rentals and car-sharing options make getting around easy.

Motorbiking in Madrid

Madrid is a motorbike-friendly city, making it easy to explore on two wheels. Here’s what you need to know:

Parking rules

Park in designated spaces or sidewalks (min. 3m for pedestrians). Avoid entrances and bus stops. Use the engine only to climb the curb, then move without it, prioritizing pedestrian safety. Find more info here.

Driving rules

Helmets are mandatory, and reflective gear is recommended, especially at night. Find more info here.

Access rules

Vehicles with a ‘Zero Emissions’ or ‘ECO’ label have unrestricted access to the Central District Low Emission Zone. Vehicles with ‘C’ or ‘B’ labels can access only between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., but parking is allowed 24/7 in designated garages. Vehicles without an environmental label cannot enter under any circumstances.
