Madrid Central is a low-emission zone covering much of the city center, designed to reduce pollution by limiting traffic access. Only residents, low-emission vehicles, and essential services are allowed to enter freely. Madrid is a motorbike-friendly city, making it easy to explore on two wheels. Here’s what you need to know:
Parking rules

Access rules
Vehicles with a ‘Zero Emissions’ or ‘ECO’ label have unrestricted access to the Central District Low Emission Zone. Vehicles with ‘C’ or ‘B’ labels can access only between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., but parking is allowed 24/7 in designated garages. Vehicles without an environmental label cannot enter under any circumstances.

Public transport in Madrid
Madrid’s public transport system is extensive, efficient, and ideal for getting around the city. Here’s what you need to know:
Metro
One of the fastest ways to get around Madrid. Operates daily from 6:00 AM to 1:30 AM. Purchase tickets at stations or use the Madrid Metro App for routes and updates.
Bus
Cover areas not served by the metro. EMT Madrid buses operate throughout the city, with night buses (búhos) available after midnight. Tickets can be purchased on the bus or via the EMT App.
Trains (Cercanías)
Ideal for reaching the outskirts or connecting to regional destinations. Operated by Renfe, tickets are available at stations or online.
