Washer-dryer
Some apartments have combo washer-dryers. Here’s some useful info:
How to know if my washing machine is also a dryer?
Check the control panel for drying settings or symbols like a sun or “dry.” If your machine has these, it’s a washer-dryer combo! You can also look up the model number online for details.
Here are some quick tips for using a washer-dryer combo:
- Don’t overload: Leave some space for better washing and drying.
- Separate settings: Use the wash cycle first, then select the drying cycle.
- Smaller loads for drying: Dry smaller loads for faster and better results.
- Use the right detergent: Make sure it’s suitable for a washer-dryer combo.
- Check labels: Ensure clothes are dryer-safe before using the drying cycle.
Here are some common washing machine icons and their meanings:
- Cotton: A t-shirt or cotton plant symbol, used for regular cotton fabrics.
- Synthetics: A triangle or beaker icon, for synthetic or mixed fabrics.
- Delicates: A flower or butterfly symbol, used for delicate fabrics like silk or lace.
- Wool: A ball of wool or sweater icon, for woolen clothes.
- Hand Wash: A hand in water symbol, for items that need gentle washing.
- Spin: A spiral or a fan icon, controls the spin speed.
- Drying: A sun or square with a line inside, used to select drying mode.
- Rinse: A jug pouring water, for extra rinse cycles.
- Temperature: A thermometer symbol, to adjust water temperature.
- Child Lock: A padlock icon, to lock the settings.
Dishwasher
In Europe, kitchens are often smaller, so dishwashers aren’t always common. Luckily, your apartment has one! Here’s how to use it.
Do I need to add salt to the dishwasher?
Your apartment comes with salt already provided, but after that, we kindly ask you to ensure it’s refilled when needed. The indicator light will let you know when it’s time, usually every few weeks.
Can I put all dishes and utensils in the dishwasher?
Most items are dishwasher-safe, but avoid placing wooden utensils, sharp knives, and delicate glassware inside to prevent damage.
Which wash cycle should I use for a quick clean?
For lightly soiled dishes, use the ‘Quick Wash’ cycle—it’s faster and energy-efficient, ideal for daily use.
What do I do if the dishwasher isn’t draining properly?
Check for any blockages in the filter or the drain area and make sure the drain hose is clear.
Oven
This section will guide you on how to use your oven efficiently, along with some helpful tips for baking, roasting, and keeping it clean.
How do I remove stubborn stains from the oven?
Let a baking soda and water paste sit overnight on the stains, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. For tougher spots, consider using an oven-safe cleaning spray.
Can I use aluminum foil in the oven?
Yes, but avoid covering the bottom, as it can block airflow and damage the oven. Use it on baking trays or to wrap food.
Why is the oven smoking during use?
This usually happens due to food or grease residue. Clean the interior and racks to resolve it.
Air conditioner
This information applies to apartments equipped with split AC units or centralized air conditioning systems. If this is the case for your apartment, you may find this information helpful.
How do I adjust the temperature?
Use the remote control to set your desired temperature, typically between 21°C-24°C for comfort. In some properties, temperature control is centralized within the building, and adjustments may not be possible. If you have any questions or concerns, our Guest Experience team is here to assist you.
Why isn’t it cooling properly?
Check if doors and windows are closed, and ensure the filters aren’t blocked.
Can I leave it on overnight?
Yes, but we recommend using the sleep mode to save energy and maintain comfort.
Ceramic hob
If your apartment has a ceramic hob, this section provides tips on how to use it safely and efficiently, as well as how to keep it in great condition.
How do I unlock the hob?
Some hobs have a safety lock—press and hold the lock button (usually with a padlock icon) to unlock it before use.
How do I activate the ceramic hob?
Certain hobs only turn on when a pot or pan is placed on the cooking zone, so make sure to have cookware ready.
What pans should I use on a ceramic hob?
Use flat-bottomed pans for even heat distribution, and avoid dragging them to prevent scratches.
How do I clean the hob safely?
Allow it to cool completely, then use a soft cloth with a ceramic hob cleaner. Avoid harsh abrasives to protect the surface.
Oven & Microwave (Combo)
Microwaves are often integrated into ovens. If this is the case in your apartment, here’s how to use it.
How do I use the microwave function if it’s combined with the oven?
Simply select the microwave setting on the control panel, place your dish inside, and set the time and power level just like a regular microwave.
Can I use the microwave and oven functions at the same time?
No, the appliance works as either a microwave or an oven, but not both simultaneously. Make sure to select the right setting based on your needs.
Is it safe to use microwave-safe dishes in this combined appliance?
Yes, as long as the microwave setting is selected. Always ensure that the dish is microwave-safe and avoid using metal when using this function.
