Public transport in Lisbon

Lisbon’s public transport system is extensive, efficient, and perfect for exploring the city. Here’s what you need to know:

Metro

The fastest way to get around Lisbon. Operates daily from 6:30 AM to 1:00 AM. Tickets can be purchased at stations or via the Carris/Metro App.

Bus & Tram

Cover areas not served by the metro, including iconic tram routes like Tram 28, which offers a scenic ride through Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods. Night buses (Rede da Madrugada) operate after midnight.

Train

Ideal for reaching the outskirts or day trips to destinations like Sintra and Cascais. Operated by CP (Comboios de Portugal), tickets are available at stations or online.

Transportation in Lisbon

Lisbon boasts an extensive and efficient public transportation system, including buses, trams, metros, and commuter trains. Tickets can be purchased at stations, kiosks, or via the official Carris/Metro App. The Carris and Metro network offers various fare options to suit your needs.
